Back To Our Regularly Scheduled Programming



So it's been a little while.

No excuses, just haven't had the recent drive/creative energy I had previously. Sometimes it comes and goes. The real trick is trying to find a set amount of time to devote to it. Something I'm always working on.

The comic has never been far from my mind. All year I've been slowly preparing for the next big Halloween Special. Even if I miss the entire year's worth of comics, I'll always find time for a Halloween special. It's that important to me. 

This year, as discussed previously, we're doing a three in one! Three wild adaptations of Edgar Allen Poe's great works. It's been something I've been planning since last year not long after finishing the 2nd special. This one has ended up being even a few more pages. I'm very happy with what I've gotten done thus far and will share more bits and pieces throughout September as we get closer to the Halloween season.




I actually had a few comics ready to post at the end of last year/early in January but just never got around to posting them. Those and a few new comics will fill up September and I'm looking to be back on a more regular schedule from November onward.

Starting with newer comics/the Halloween special I've changed up to using a different brush in my art. Trying to get more comfortable with thicker line work instead of the pencil style brush I've been using for years. It's gonna be a bit of adjustment getting used to it, but I think the comic looks a lot better with it.

Today we're gonna cover a little closer to the actual creation process as we cover how a comic goes from it's earliest sketched idea to the final version I post on here. I'm using two recent comics as a good example for this. First up, Billy Comics #26, Bad Dog. This comic had a very different second half. It's a good showcase that an idea may seem fun/funny at first but upon making it real, it doesn't hit the same way.  My initial idea was more of a fun little gag where Georgie rides off victorious. I liked it all right but after drawing it out I just wasn't finding it as humorous. So I rethought the gag a few different ways. Bonus Boy Billy Halloween 2025: Universally Monstrous

  I made this extra comic because between the 18 pages of Yellow Lights and 12 pages of my horror comic I'm posting online, this makes 31 pages of comics to post all month long. I've had this idea for a while. It was fun to color in all the monsters. The classic Universal Monster movies are must watches for me every Spooktober season.
