Profile 3: Georgie

Our third profile and this one's about everybody's favorite troublemaker. George may be young but he's still got plenty of story to tell.

Name: George, nicknamed Georgie

Age: 2

Favorite Food: Cinnamon crackers (Killer clowns is a close 2nd)

Theme Song: Laplace's Angel (Hurt People? Hurt People!) by Will Wood

Abilities: Magical summoning, sharp claws, can devour a clown whole, manipulation

History: Georgie is the product of some wild years his mother spent partying with monsters. His dad being a rather chill demon she spent a good amount of time with. They split only a few months after Georgie was born which was difficult on the little guy. Not entirely understanding just yet. It wasn't really until his mother brought back her first son, Billy, that George felt he had some stability again. Billy took on the role of big brother easily and George was happy to be a little bro.

Georgie is chaos incarnate. He loves to mess with folks wherever he goes. It makes finding a baby-sitter very difficult for Zindy. George is neither good nor evil. He just goes with the flow and does whatever sounds like the most fun. Usually the worst, craziest idea is whatever he's going to go with.

There are various parties that want George to grow up to become a world destroyer. While he may be a little bit of a jerk sometimes he likes the Earth way too much to destroy it. At the end of the day he's going to do the right thing even if it takes him a while to get around to it.

Georgie has a keen ability for magic like his mother and can master spells quite easily. He tends to spend much of his free time reading through her various old books, learning all he can. Some of what he learns will be quite helpful in a pinch.

Despite his size and age he can take care of himself well. Able to devour enemies whole if they get too close. His claws are a lot sharper than they look. He can be a fierce little fighter and very protective of his family. Even Oltan who he only half-gets along with.

Creator Notes: One of the biggest changes to the series was Georgie and his overall status. Initially he was the main villain of the series. Every bad thing that happened was because of his scheming. He was going to be trying to bring about the end of the world. Any way possible. Though only Billy would be able to see and try to stop his nefarious plans.

I think at the time I initially came up with George I was still a big fan of Stewie from Family Guy. Though I decided early on he wouldn't have any ill will towards his mother, rather her love was something he and Billy would fight over often. Other than that George was just a supernatural version of Stewie.

His name is the one hold-over from his time as the villain. I named him George after my all time favorite filmmaker, George A. Romero. Because in the OG storyline George had a small army of zombies at his command. Initially they all fell into the lake, he brought them up before they could resurrect properly and they were his goons through the series. So the name George felt appropriate with him using Zombies all the time.

During the 2019 attempt at getting the comic made I had decided to change his name. He wasn't going to be a main villain, just a little jerk so he wouldn't have the zombie goons anymore. It felt like the name no longer fit. Not really able to think of anything else I liked, I defaulted to what felt like the most obvious other name: Alister.

As Alister he was going to be a bit less world-dominating but now his focus was mostly on tormenting Billy. His debut comic was going to be him starting Billy with his magic powers just to mess with him. Setting the tone that he was just a jerk to his big brother. I had one comic in mind where Alister summoned a knight armor to try and kill Billy, with the three all in one big fight in the background while their mom was on the phone saying the boys were fine. A fun little gag but one that doesn't really fit the character now.

I was never really happy with the name Alister nor was I really digging him as a villain. I never could get that debut comic of his to work how I wanted it, drawing and re-drawing a couple times. Eventually I decided to revert back to George, though now he goes by Georgie was a little nod to IT and how that's the story we homage with his debut. Honestly that debut comic was where I finally broke the character and he made total sense to me. He's this little chaos goblin that looks all sweet and innocent but if you're not careful he'll bite you. If he doesn't like you, that is.

Nowadays I feel the character has fit his groove and serves a much more interesting role than he would as a villain. George has become my personal favorite character of the series. I love drawing him. I love coming up with scenarios for him to be a goober in. He's just a really fun character and I look forward to sharing more of this chaos goblin baby with you in the near future.
