So now that I'm going to use the blog more I thought it was time to say a little bit about myself, but mostly my journey getting Bone Boy Billy alive. First proper introductions, I'm a thirty three year old fellow living in Eugene, Oregon. I work a regular job, consider myself an aspiring cartoonist and most proudly am a dog dad to the cutie pie you see in that photo.

My loves are wide and varied. Godzilla is my favorite film franchise. I can play any Resident Evil game a hundred times over and never get bored. Shadow the Hedgehog is still awesome. I love to riff with the bots on the Satellite of Love. Horror though is my favorite genre of all and you'll see a lot of love for horror in this comic.

Comics has been a passion/love of mine since I was a young lad. I wanted to make comics before I could even fully write or read. Drawing was something I just did all the time for fun. I doodled all the time at school. Doodling on homework. All over my school planner. Anything I could get my hands on. I wanted to make my own comics in some form pretty much my entire life.

Plans always change and some things take longer than you expect them to. I first came up with Billy way back in 2008 or so, the timing is fuzzy. Billy's roots in horror are there from the very start, as he was born from a failed Xenomorph doodle in the middle of class. Back then when I was doodling, if I made a mistake I didn't stop, I just changed it to t fit the mistake. I got the back of the head right, but messed up the front. So I made it into a cartoony skeleton face and drew a body to match. Nothing special.

Yet that image stuck with me. A little Skeleton Alien boy just walking around getting up to hijinks. At first the idea was he's an alien that crashed on Earth but fell into a Pet Semetary type of situation where he comes back undead. Not much beyond that for an idea. So I tried re-drawing the little dude, but I couldn't get the angle on the head right no matter how many times I tried. It just never looked like that first doodle. So I decided to go with a much simpler human skull I could draw over and over again much easier.

Slowly the town of Serling and Billy's world began to form around him. Early on the series was going to be very different and I'll talk about those early plans/ideas another time some day. Just know that it was a wildly different comic back in the early stages.

Originally I was never going to draw Bone Boy Billy, I never had much confidence in my art (I still don't, honestly) so I wanted someone else to draw it. It wasn't until working on a project with some former collaborators that I was convinced to give drawing it myself a try. That was the first real pass at making Bone Boy Billy. I was drawing it all via pen and paper and planned to scan it online. Though after getting a taste of digital art on a tablet, plans changed.

Due to some setbacks and changes, the comic got delayed until early 2023 when I got my first tablet. Drawing up a storm for a few months before I hit a wall of depression. That kind of stifled my creativity. As noted in the archived early comics, I published my first few comics on Twitter bac in October 2023. My plan was to continue posting from there but I got behind. Not getting back on the horse until mid-2024 with making new comics again.

Now I'm devoted to posting Bone Boy Billy every Wednesday weekly. I may not always keep up to that, I, like so many, am prone to procrastinating. But I'll keep at it and if you just happen to like what you read, please, share this blog and the comic with anyone you think might like it! Bone Boy Billy is an all ages comic with a sharp horror twist. Not afraid to get a little spooky and creepy along with cute and funny. If that sounds like something you know someone will like then let them know about us! We're a very young comic and I'm so incredibly excited to share what's coming with you all! Keep an eye on the blog for both new comics as well as behind the scenes look at older comics.
